Carly Scarborough

Carly is from Hickory, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington in 2017 with a BS in Biology and minor in Psychology. As an undergrad, she spent time shadowing a prenatal genetic counselor and worked in a Virology lab for her undergraduate research. After graduation, she moved to Maryland where she worked as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for the Cardiogenetics program at GeneDx and also spent time volunteering with Artstream, an inclusive theater arts company in the area, and as a coach for Girls on the Run. In 2019, she moved to Philadelphia and worked as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for the Mitochondrial Medicine team at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Carly chose Rutgers because she felt at home with the program staff and is very excited to begin her training to become a genetic counselor and figure out what specialty interests her the most.
