- About:
Ruhi Shah is from East Brunswick, New Jersey. She graduated from Rutgers University in 2019 with a major in Genetics and a minor in psychology. Following graduation, she worked at biotechnology companies conducting research related to personalized medicine, shadowed genetic counselors at several hospitals throughout New Jersey, and volunteered as a Crisis Counselor. She then went on to complete her master’s in public health with a concentration in healthcare quality and safety at Thomas Jefferson University. Through this program, she has interned at a rare disease patient advocacy organization known as Congenital Hyperinsulinism International (CHI) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at New Jersey. She chose Rutgers University because of its diverse rotation opportunities and its welcoming faculty. Ruhi is excited to be starting her genetic counseling journey at Rutgers and to learn more about this ever-growing field.
