Jaz is from Cyclone, WV. She graduated from The University of Charleston in 2022 with a major in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. As an undergrad, she worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory biology course, tutored many STEM courses, volunteered as a crisis counselor, and did research in the genomics of the microbiome of parasitic plants. She chose Rutgers because of the friendly faculty and staff, their openness to feedback and hearing the student's opinions, the diverse rotation sites, and the longer rotation schedule.
