Class of 2024
- Leora Scheinerman
- About:
Leora grew up in Teaneck, NJ, and now lives with her husband and children in Princeton, NJ. She graduated from Brown University in 2009 with an Sc.B. in neuroscience, focusing on the biological basis of mental illness. Following her undergraduate studies, Leora spent some years working as a clinical research assistant, first in psychiatry and then in nephrology. Although initially intending to pursue a career as a physician, Leora encountered the field of genetic counseling relatively late in her career journey when she was a patient during her own pregnancy. She quickly became fascinated by the field and began to further explore on her own. After spending several years focusing primarily on her family and raising her children, Leora is excited to return to school to pursue a career as a genetic counselor. She chose Rutgers for its supportive faculty and the availability of a wide range of opportunities close to home.
