- About:
Elora is originally from Maple Shade, NJ. She graduated from Lehigh University in 2022 with a B.A. in Biology and Health, Medicine, & Society and a minor in English. During her time at Lehigh, Elora was a volunteer cancer genetic counseling assistant at Lehigh Valley Hospital, as well as the mental health education chair for Lehigh’s National Alliance on Mental Illness, and a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line. She also worked as a behavioral neuroscience research assistant, where she characterized gene expression in the brains of mice, investigating the effects of environmental enrichment on a specific gene associated with learning and memory. After graduation, Elora began working full-time as an ocular genetic counseling assistant at Wills Eye Hospital, and volunteering as a special needs soccer buddy for The Opportunity to Play Soccer (TopSoccer) program. Elora chose Rutgers because she felt strongly that the program faculty were invested in their student’s well-being and success, and she knew that Rutgers offered the rotation sights, resources, and support that would allow her to thrive as a student and succeed as a genetic counselor.
