    Nia is from San Diego, California. She graduated from the University of California San Diego in 2024 and earned her undergraduate degree in Microbiology. While at UCSD, she contributed to a research project studying the mechanisms of Renal Fanconi syndrome in yeast models. She also took an introductory genetic counseling class at UCSD Extension and served as the chair for the UCSD Extension Genetic Counseling Club for a year after graduation. Before coming to Rutgers, Nia worked as a biorepository technician with Resonant Clinical Solutions. She chose Rutgers for its proximity to major cities with diverse patient populations, and scholarship and grant opportunities.
